FFA Private Bank – lending a helping hand to AUB students

September 9, 2021

It’s easy to lose track – when the challenges are so great and the situation is so terrible – of the lives that are being affected, the dreams that are being shattered, and the futures that are now much more uncertain than they were such a short time ago. When a student is forced to drop out of university because her father cannot access his money in a Lebanese bank – or because that money was needed to pay for repairs to a home or business damaged in the August 4, 2020, explosion in the Beirut port – it’s not just the student’s life that is affected. The lives of her siblings and her ability to care for her parents – even grandparents – is affected as well.

Every dollar contributed to AUB to provide for a student scholarship makes a real difference. “We say this all the time,” explained Dr. Imad B. Baalbaki, VP for Advancement and Business Development, “but it is true – never more so than today. We are so grateful to the people and institutions that are coming forward to help our students during these unprecedented times.

One of the organizations that is supporting scholarships at AUB today is the FFA Private Bank. One of the region’s leading banks specialized in capital markets, wealth management, real estate, and investment banking, FFA Group is partnering with AUB to support the FFA Private Bank Scholarship.

Founder, Group Chairman, and CEO Jean Riachi explains, “In these challenging times we ought to thank AUB for its commitment to giving our youth access to a high-standard education, as we strongly believe that education has always been a pillar of this country and will be the basis of its rebirth.”

The FFA Private Bank Scholarship, which will support academically qualified students who demonstrate financial need beginning in the fall 2021 term, is part of the AUB4Students Scholarship Drive that the university launched on Valentine’s Day, the day when many people send – or receive – a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers. On February 14, 2021, AUB invited its alumni and friends to show their love for students by also making a gift to support the education of current and future generations of young men and women at AUB.
