A trustee since 2011, a young alumni trustee from 2008-10, and an AUB graduate (BA ’01), Haykal is the CEO of Haykal Group, active primarily in technology, mobile, and media/publishing. He is the founding president of the Syrian Young Entrepreneurs Association, and sits on the board of several development, education, and youth empowerment NGOs. He is a trustee of the University of Kalamoon in Syria, and serves on the President’s Advisory Board of the EARTH University in Costa Rica. In 2009, the World Economic Forum named Haykal a Young Global Leader. He is a graduate of the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (MA international relations and diplomacy ’01), and completed an executive leadership module at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
