AUB alumna and ophthalmologist Reem Renno keeps her eye on AUB

Although she lives in Houston, Texas, where she is an ophthalmologist at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Dr. Reem Renno (BS ’92, MD ’97) stays in close touch with her alma mater. “Some of my former professors – people like Dr. Makhlouf Haddadin – are now good friends and professional colleagues,” she explains. “I also stay in touch with AUB because I think it’s important that all alumni do what they can to support our university and Lebanon. This is especially true today!”
Renno recently made a gift to AUB to establish an endowed scholarship fund to support Palestinian students majoring in computer science or computer and communications engineering. It is not her first gift to AUB. She is also a regular contributor to the Makhlouf Haddadin Endowment that funds the Makhlouf Haddadin Awards for graduating chemistry undergraduate and graduate students and an annual lectureship.
“We are deeply grateful to alumni like Dr. Reem who establish scholarship funds, making it possible for bright young students to attend our university,” said VP for Advancement and Business Development Imad B. Baalbaki. “We know these are tough times everywhere, but the need is especially great in Lebanon.”
