“Our mother dedicated her life to all of us,” Said Daher reflects. “She supported, encouraged, and celebrated our achievements. She raised us to live ethically, work diligently, be serious, and give back to others.”

Said Daher along with his family, established an endowed scholarship fund at AUB in honor of their mother, creating a living memorial to “an extraordinary woman.” “She was truly exceptional,” Daher says. “She did everything for us supporting our endeavors. She was not only a wonderful mother but also an exceptional mother-in-law.” Although his mother did not complete high school, Said emphasizes that she valued education highly. “She always urged us to ‘learn, learn, learn,’” he says.

“We are deeply moved by Mr. Said’s generous gift,” said Associate Vice President for Development, Alumni Relations, and University Events Salma Dannawi Oueida. “It is always particularly meaningful when someone honors a loved one’s memory by making a donation to our university.” As an alumnus, Daher holds AUB in high regard. “It’s an outstanding university for Lebanon and the entire region,” he states. “We wanted to contribute especially now, given the great need in Lebanon. This scholarship will support academically gifted Lebanese students in need. There are many who need our support.”
