Where are they now? Catching up with Razan Ghalayini

October 3, 2022

“Growing up it was always my dream to go to AUB,” remembers Razan Ghalayini (BS Biology ’17). “It all started when my school took us on a field trip to the AUB campus. I immediately fell in love with it. Hearing about the numerous opportunities AUB provides during the campus tour made me think of all the doors that AUB could open for me. I wanted to be part of the worldwide AUB family.”

Razan’s dream came true when she entered AUB in fall 2012. She credits her parents for giving her and her sisters, Rawan and Lea, everything they needed “to become the women we are today.” She is also grateful for the financial support she received from AUB’s financial aid program and from the Nada Suheil Muasher Endowed Scholarship and the Marzouk Jassim Al Marzouk Scholarship.

Looking back at her time at AUB, she says that the university provided “the perfect combination of high-quality education and a rich student life.” She especially treasures “the lifelong connections I made with friends and professors. They supported me in all ways during my university years and are still supporting me today. They are the people I go to whenever life gets tough,” she says. (Razan recently wrote about her time at AUB. You can read her story here.)

Razan has fond memories of relaxing with friends between classes on the Green Oval. (“It was our favorite spot to study, eat, and just relax,” she says.) She even has good memories of “all the late nights” at Jafet Library! “It was a stressful time, but my friends and I enjoyed every minute of it.”

An active member of the Kuwait Chapter, Razan has helped to organize numerous fundraising events in Kuwait. Having benefited from scholarship support herself, Razan is especially eager to lend a helping hand to others who need it. “I want to help make good quality education accessible for everyone. No deserving student should be deprived of the right to a good education because of financial obstacles.”
